"Q" is for "Quiet Time," and Char's got her pillow all ready to go.

I see a trend here. First they had "Nap Day." Now they have "Quiet Time." I suppose "S is for Sleep Day" is coming soon...

I'm seriously jealous.

Nap Day? Seriously? Oh man, I could go for that.

"M" is for "Mix and Match Day."

This year we have been listening to books on CD during our car rides to daycare. Char has been working on the thirteen (!) books in Lemony Snicket's book series, A Series of Unfortunate Events. After finishing book ten, The Slipery Slope, I was done for awhile. The author's narration style was getting on my nerves. 

Instead, we have been listening to this CD in the morning.

One of Charlotte's favorite songs on this compilation inspired us to write the joke she is going to tell her teacher today. To clarify, Charlotte attends Karen Acres Elementary School.

Q: Why does Karen Acres like funk Music?

A: Because it's a Brick House!

The A-Z countdown to summer has begun at Char's school. Today is C for Crazy Hair.

This is the first time Daphne has used colored hair spray. I hope it washes out. Not for Char's sake, but for mine. That stuff got all over my car's headrest...

First Homework Assignment

It was about a half hour before Char's bedtime when we discovered she had homework. The assignment was to write out the numbers 1 to 120.

It was like pulling teeth at first. Char kept getting frustrated and upset. You can see it in her handwriting and the eraser marks.

She calmed down when the end was in sight, and she was excited with the improvement in her handwriting.

Practice pays off! That's a great lesson to learn.

Now it's time for bed.  That took waaaay longer than we expected.

2nd First Day

Today is Charlotte's first day to be a first grader! We went to open house last night to check out her new digs. A desk of your own is quite an upgrade from the kindergarten tables of last year.

Her cubbyhole is bigger this year, too.

I took pictures at home.

It's also the first day of school for Daphne and I, so neither of us could be at Karen Acres when Charlotte went in. Kim, our daycare provider (and more), took pictures for us. Thanks!

Only 2,159 days to go...

(As a footnote, today is my 43rd time to go back to school.)
