Two Things

Charlotte was pretty quiet on the way to school today. By the time we crossed the interstate, I asked her what she was thinking about.

“You’ll never guess.”

I guessed cats, candy, school, art class, school friends, and boys (who are yucky).

Each guess was denied. Stumped, I gave in. “Okay, I give up. What are you thinking of?”

“Two things,” she replied, ”robbers and hypnotism.”

“You’re right. I wouldn’t have ever guessed that.”

“Told you.”
